State of the Pups

Soooo…I dropped some pups. Over a week since the solid decision and I still confidently feel it was the right choice, but it's definitely bittersweet. I'm really quite excited at the prospect of having real time to develop my own characters, but it's sad, too. I went a year without dropping a single pup, and the reason is simply that I loved them all dearly.

I will say this, though: It's incredibly freaky to essentially blow through my reqs without thinking about it because I'm so used to making activity for so many pups. It's nice, but disorienting.

Just as a general note: I've been covered up with schoolwork this past week mostly because I'm a horrible procrastinator, but my workload will be VERY light after the 24th all the way through until the Fall. I'm looking forward to getting back on an even keel.

So apparently Shari and Mace are dating. If that statement sounds somewhat uncertain, that's because the situation hasn't come about in any expected way; their first "date" (which we just finished playing) was an ambush date where Mace didn't inform Shari that's what it was. Shari's still not sure what the fuck is going on, but she really likes Mace so she's basically moving forward but making sure to tread carefully. Her track record in the serious romance area is just so fucking awful that it precludes her being in that giddy first flush of dating someone. Now that I'll have fewer pups to divide my threads amongst, I'm very much looking forward to getting Shari in particular out and tagging many and diverse pups. She's always been my best for that. Still wanting to do some kind of event soon, and her Time Loop is still tentatively scheduled for April.

SIRIUS BLACK Harry Potter DOB: 19 Nov 59 Age: 23 Since May 08 blackedout

This month has been all about Remus Lupin and all of the drama that comes along with that. We've been working on Remus' extremely traumatic Time Loop, which is sad and scary but also AMAZING. I'm truly so proud of Mala, Kat and myself, and also grateful for the millionth time that we have such fantastic players in this game. He's also working on a thread with Cassie after she first met this new version of Remus, and that's been just lovely. I am such a fan of all the things Cassie does to Sirius' heart and head. Still planning on doing his MWPP-era Home Plot. Moony's Time Loop just happened to take precedence because of the lunar cycle.

PEPPER POTTS Iron Man DOB: 17 Jan 72 Age: 39 Since Aug 08 wildlyconflicted

As I'm sure you all know, Pepper got blown up at the end of last month when Tony's latest item was infiltrated by a virus from the space station before he could disarm it. Essentially, I wanted a reason to blow my pup up like was done in comic canon, and Scott came up with an incredible concept that wove everything together really nicely. And he did it in, like…ten minutes? Twenty? Something like that. His brain is seriously awesome. In return for letting Scott blow up my pup, Tony finally said the L-word. (Not lesbians.) Considering that Tony and Pepper have been attached at the hip for the better part of 17 years, we've been playing them for about 3.5, and they've been formally together over a year, this was a fairly big deal and extremely overdue. Pepper's in the clinic through the end of the month, as heart surgery is a pretty big deal even when you have access to hospitals and tons of supplies. I was thinking about top-leveling her at Mardi Gras for visitors, but I had to do school stuff and stop fucking around. But I do want to get her a visitors EP before the month is out. She's still weird about the chest piece and probably will be for at least a few months, but I can forsee a time when she owns it LIKE A BOSS. Then there is the whole Mary Jane situation, but I've barely dipped my toe into that. Saving most of that for March.

Acted a fool on Valentine's Day, fortunately remembers neither her own behavior nor Thor being a big meanie. Still playing those threads out, although I imagine they won't be terribly long, all things considered. I've been enjoying her antics and everyone's reactions, though; it's been a lot of fun. Unless there's some other amazing idea for someone else I've missed in my pondering about Fear Plot, Jane will be my one to be opted in. Her fear will be the Destroyer, aka Giant Metal Man Sent By Loki To Kill Her Boyfriend. I love the sheer destruction factor of this choice, NGL, but I also love the innate paranoia it will breed from now until October. Jane doesn't trust Loki anyway; over time she will become convinced that he's hatching some kind of horrible conspiracy and that maybe he even has contact with Asgard. There should be lots of drama on the horizon from that alone.

PETER PEVENSIE The Chronicles of Narnia DOB: 30 Jul 27 Age: 15/28 Since Dec 11 high_king

Was in Valentine's Day plot, woke up with Peggy and fought off a tiny raptor in a "Likes Boys" t-shirt. May now think Steve Rogers is an exceptionally lucky man but is keeping such thoughts entirely to himself. Next month I'm going to get up the EP for him I've wanted to do since January, just adjusted a bit. Basically, traipsing up the mountain to work on Cair Paravel, and whomever would like to come along is welcome to. I'm very eager to get him officially started on that plot arc, lengthy though it will be. I also very much just want to get Peter out more in general. Playing him makes me so incredibly happy.

DAVID POSNER The History Boys DOB: 6 Sep 65 Age: 17 Since Jan 12 spanielheart

Posner is the one pup I made time to tag around the Mardi Gras post, and while I've barely gotten started on those threads yet I'm soooo looking forward to where they go. I'm operating on the assumption that the boy had never been drunk before, and he's an absolute handful. He kissed Dakin before even saying hello, LOL. (This is partially due to alcohol and partially due to the injection of confidence he got from Valentine's Day and discovering himself covered in hickeys applied by Francis.) At this point with Poz, I just want to get him out and about as much as possible. I definitely feel more capable of doing that now, and I'm keeping a list in my head of pups I hope to throw him at. I really wanted to tag more folks at Mardi Gras, but I had to reel myself in and be responsible. :P (Vi, if you don't mind it being a bit late, I've totally made a note to tag Alcuin once I have a free moment and the creative energy for it.)
