State of the Pups

October was as busy as normal, and I'm not entirely sure yet whether I'm going to make reqs this month, but I've become okay with that. Obviously I would prefer to, as this would be the first time I've missed them since February 2010, but if it doesn't happen I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I was freaking out a bit when I first returned from holiday, feeling like I'd let people down, and Kat had to remind me that I'd been on vacation and it was okay. I have a list of planned threads I still need to start, and I intend to get to those even if they don't get linked until November. I'm feeling good, school has let up considerably, and I've applied myself this week to doing some serious, concrete planning for my pups for the next 4-6 months. I'd slacked on my planning recently, and that is why I haven't been as with it as I prefer. I do so, so much better when I have a goal in mind, even if it's just a vague one.

SHARI COOPER

I'm in a really comfortable place with Shari right now, which is great. By "comfortable," I don't mean boring, but rather that she has quite a bit going on, and I'm neither concerned about her development or vitality. She always keeps on trucking no matter what, she's the one I could write in my sleep, but it's good to be in that place again, where I'm satisfied with who she is and where she's going. She's been a bit unsteady recently because she's been purposely pushing herself out of her comfort zone, which means she's been blurting shit out and not quite as calm and collected as normal. She's been questioning herself some, making a fool out of herself some, but it's all part of the process. It wouldn't be realistic for her just suddenly be okay with letting people in again.


One of the things I'm really excited about is that forcing of herself to let people in a bit more, as she has a number of relationships that have sprung up over the last six months that are very good for her. Mace and Ishiah are particularly important lately, but there's also Jason and Charles and Sam, and Steve despite that he turns her into a blithering idiot (for reasons which are many and varied). And yes, I'm aware that this is a list entirely comprised of guys, but that's always been the way with her. I will say, though, that I'd like to thread her more with her "girlfriends," because it's those friendships that keep her the most steady, I think.


PLANS: I toyed with the idea of her taking the next Council term off, but I feel sure she'd regret it. She wants to do another Ladies Night, but her conversation with Zhuge during speed dating has also convinced her to do a friendship speed dating, so those are both on the table and will probably happen before the end of January, I'm just not sure which is happening when yet. She's getting a guitar and amp for NDPD so that she and Jess can start the dead blonde girl musical duo they've been talking about. I think it'll be a nice, calming hobby. I'd also like to do some kind of time loop with her early next year, but haven't decided what it would be.

SIRIUS BLACK

I've just gotten started on the private EP I set up for Sirius before I left, and I'm looking forward to really getting into the nitty gritty of how he's changed in those threads. (As an aside, I'm sorry you guys had to wait a bit longer than everyone else, I just wanted to make certain my head was in the right place first.) I'm excited to explore the changes to his perception, but also to inject a bit more of post-Azkaban Sirius, as well. He's been so steady for so long now, I think it will be interesting to get him back to that reckless impulsiveness that is so a part of his character. He's still a bit subdued at present, but I think being in London in December will put him more to rights.


PLANS: What I really want right now is for Sirius to find some kind of hands-on hobby. He's not at all athletic, so Quidditch is right out, and I don't think he'll be doing Fight Club anymore. I tend to just let him go his own way, but I would really like something a bit more solid for him, so if you have any ideas, throw them my way, please. OH, and it's his birthday on November 19th, if anyone wants to do something with that.

PEPPER POTTS

Pepper, Pepper, Pepper. I love playing her, she's one of the ones I would never consider dropping (unless Tony went), but her lifestyle is not particularly conducive to exciting or terribly interesting gameplay. Her boyfriend's and best friend's are, but I hate having that crutch. Coming up with plot for her is always a challenge. Right now, she's mostly relationship-focused, starting to wonder (again) about the wisdom of being in a relationship with Tony Stark while simultaneously knowing she could never give it up. Second verse, same as the first. I have the seed of a pretty epic plot germinating in my brain, but it would require Scott's approval, so I'm not going to say anything about that until I talk to him. No, it is not babies. Or marriage. Or anything like that.


PLANS: I talked to Melly briefly about Pepper and Karen doing a fashion show, but let's be honest: BORING. So it may or may not happen. Pepper is also another one I'm considering time looping, but I'm not sure what moment to choose. Maybe the debacle with Tony and the yacht, because I'm sure everybody is super-excited to revist that.

CALIBAN LEANDROS

I pushed back Cal's amnesia plot because, obviously, October was pretty well fucked and I couldn't have done it properly. I also need to run by the mods the idea of him getting a nepenthe spider for an item, because I'd much rather he get scratched and lose his memory that way than a brain injury. This will happen late November, and AFAIK, it's set that he'll be out hunting with Dean when it happens.


Which brings me to December, which is the month to get close to Cal (in whatever way you prefer) if that is on your to-do list. He'll still be an asshole, but he won't have the half-Auphe hangups that ordinarily prevent him from connecting with people. I'm hoping to get him laid but I can't say for sure that after he gets his memories back that he'll see that as evidence that he shouldn't be worrying about passing on demon genes anymore. If anything, he'll probably freak the fuck out about it.


PLANS: Aside from the above, finding ways for him to meet more people. I think he's just about to the point where he'll consent to taking some shifts in the Hub, if they're available.

LUX CASSIDY

I'm really glad I made the random decision to EP Lux again last month after I'd EPed her in August. It was a pretty silly scenario, but it made me feel a bit better about her, because she's been iffy lately. I just have to remember that she is, fundamentally, a comedic pup. Her canon is made up of people being put in really ridiculous situations and then fumbling their way through them. One of the posts I have to start this week is her and Baze doing exactly that on Halloween, so that should be fun. Right now, Lux is the pup I'm watching the closest, but I think as long as I stay focused and remember what works best for her, she'll be okay.


PLANS: I very much want to continue with her interest in fashion and sewing, which gives her purpose on the island. She's getting a sewing machine for NDPD, and she'll probably be making her own clothes very soon. I'm also going to be keeping my eye out for anything silly that I can throw her into.

CLARK KENT

Clark hasn't had much happening recently aside from Lois' arrival, which is fine in the general sense, but not great from a sustainability standpoint, so I'm going to be looking into giving him some serious plot probably early next year. He's Superman, he really ought to have some sort of superhero plot going on, even if it's difficult to do when he has no powers anymore. (Unlike many of our other superheroes, there isn't a lot he can do without powers.) He's considering expanding the GAE and somewhat burdened by the engagement ring in his pocket, so he's got shit that's occupying him, I just need to take advantage of that. I also need to EP him again, so be looking for that.


PLANS: Aside from the above, I am debating his item. I plan on giving him something severely traumatic and seriously permanent, so I want to make sure I'm 100% on the item and the timing before I do it. If at all possible, I'd like to tie it into a larger plot arc where he finally accepts that he's Superman. Also, he's going to be helping William with asking questions at the Council speeches, and I think that would be a good point to have him start opening up more to the idea of being a community leader rather than just an ex-superhero, as he's been resisting that for awhile.

TONY STONEM

So, Tony had his canon puncture freakout party, and he's been pretty subdued since then. He's in a situation similar to Sirius, where he's had this major revelation and is trying to find his footing again, so he's been a bit more quiet than normal lately. He hasn't been a life ruiner for a couple of months, it's amazing. However, I am currently on the look out for opportunities to trigger his old habits. If Teddy shows up, that will definitely do it, but I'm open to pretty much anything. Maxxie has cut him off, which is a good catalyst all by itself, so he should be steadily devolving back into the manipulative Tony we all know and love. I'm struggling with whether he would hurt Billy or not, because I do feel he learned a significant lesson with Michelle and that he'd apply it here, even if it's not actually about love. He'll probably hurt someone else instead, so just watch out. Or, alternately, tell me if you have someone you'd LIKE to get hurt. :D


PLANS: Tiiiiime loop. In Russia. Hopefully with Billy, so that he can see what a dick his boyfriend actually is.

JANE FOSTER

Jane is pretty good. I've been very satisfied with playing her recently, which is nice, as I went awhile a little unsteady with her, principally because I had very little idea of where I was going with her (aside from into Thor's pants). I randomly tagged the Doctor last month, and that was such a good move. I think they could be good friends and be all space-loving together. I want to continue tagging her into random posts just to see what shakes out.


Things continue apace with Thor, although I never quite know what is going on there, so a talk with Nix is probably in order. I don't want to micromanage, but I do like having a loose gameplan. We need to pull Loki in, as well, because that is a wealth of plot opportunity just waiting to happen. Personally, I would love for him to pull the wool completely over her eyes and do something awful to try and split her and Thor up. It would be a slow process, as she really does not like the dude, but I'm all for ruining my pup's life. :D


PLANS: Right now we're still working on the Peter-Tony-Chase plot. I've got to get up a post for Jane's science buds (Fred, Walter, Belle) so that they can flail around and be science-y together. I was going to give her a ballin' telescope for NDPD, but I almost feel like that would be cruel and not very helpful with regards to character development, so I'm back to the drawing board there.

FREDDIE MCLAIR

Augh, Freddie. He doesn't know which way is up right now, but he's trying desperately to stay zen while helping Effy and Cook. This is never easy, and maybe impossible, if canon is to be believed. He's got these burgeoning feelings for Cook, but Cook wants to keep him at a distance while being absolute rubbish at keeping him at a distance, so there is ALL THE CONFUSION. Freddie's doing fairly well with Effy, though, so that's good; he's making a very solid attempt to hold off on getting sexual again, because in hindsight he realises how easy it is for things to spiral out of control once they start fucking. For lack of a better word, they're extremely passionate, and they have this way of losing themselves in each other that isn't remotely healthy. He's made friends with Charlie Bartlett, though, and I'd like for him to start having some informal sessions with Charlie soon, if Ruth is open to it.


PLANS: Learning how to surf and building a skateboard ramp are the big two right now. I'll be giving him some skateboards for NDPD, but he'll have to sort out the rest himself. I think it will be good, him having something to build that is important to him.

LIONEL TRANE

Lionel. Lioooooooonel. You were such a good decision, bb. He's made a hell of a splash already, and I'm just so happy with him. A lot of times, my pups require a bit of an adjustment period, but not Lionel. (As an aside, thank you to everyone who complimented me on him last month. It really means so much, you have no idea.) Things are seriously weird with Moosh, but that's to be expected. He almost had sex with Maxxie before they realised who they were, so there's even more awkward there, and he's probably on the cusp of telling Moosh about it in the thread we have going right now. He can tell instinctively that Moosh is really into Maxxie, so he wants to make sure he understands that the guy actually is sleeping around. He's taking RIDING LESSONS from JON SNOW, who Lionel is pretty sure is THE PERFECT MAN. Jon Snow, predictably, knows nothing, and continues to bring all the innuendo without being aware of it. Lionel's definitely got a serious crush, but he's also very pragmatic, so he doesn't expect much of anything to come from it aside from friendship and learning how to ride a horse.


PLANS: Next month, Kat and I are going to begin to plan teen Rocky Horror Picture Show in earnest, so be looking for that. I'm also giving him a really nice projector for NDPD, and he's going to open a movie theatre so that he can have film series of all his favorites. I thought about giving him a camera, but he was never as committed to creating real cinematic art as Moosh was, so I think this is a much better choice.

PETER PEVENSIE

Bringing Peter back is something I have planned to do for years. I didn't expect it to happen quite so soon, but PotF made me realise that I've never lost his voice, and that now is finally the right time. I like some of the writing I did last time I have him, but I'm not happy with how I played him in the general sense, not happy with where I went with him and how I let myself get bleed. He was very overwhelming for me at the time, and I finally feel like I'm mellowed enough and backed away from method RP enough that I can do this and have fun with it. Initially I'd planned on having him be 27 again, fresh from the end of the Golden Age like last time, but the more I thought about it, the more intriguing it is to have him come from Prince Caspian, a 28 year-old man trapped in a 15 year-old body, and everything that comes along with that. It's built-in plot, and I'm really eager to explore that very unique dynamic.


(For the record, I am still planning on bringing Loras, probably in P1. We'll see how things shake out, but he is pretty firmly planted in my head, and switching his reserve out made me incredibly sad, so I think it's highly likely.)


PLANS: Initially, I just want to get Peter IG, but in December Kat is planning on giving Edmund the Stone Table, so there will be all the emo and brotherly clinging. Next year, I'd really, REALLY like to have him initiate some activity on the second island, maybe start a settlement over there. This is something I think is overdue, and Peter is a pup I can see doing that, especially if he's getting well sick of being treated like a kid.

ROFL I've mentioned it in at least one SotP, WHICH I NOW KNOW YOU DON'T READ, AND in a slated post. He's got the plans for the building, and I already spoke at least briefly with Scott about the possibility of having someone build a projector for him, instead of using NDPD.

So... I don't know, it really hasn't been mentioned IG, yet, but it's something that I've been handwaving that he was already actively working on. I don't know if you want them to partner up, or have TWO theaters, or if it's really important to you, I'm not going to pitch a fit and take it from you.

In regards to Jane and Thor, having a gameplan is a good idea, I'm down with that. I have a bigger, action-y sort plot that I'd like to build around Thor in the new year that I've been sitting on, because it's a bit too far away to really start planning for in earnest (and I don't have the ending figured out yet), but other than, I'm pretty open to ideas. Maaaaybe the three of us should have a brainstorming session in an email/over IM, though? Or determine when Thor will take Jane to bed, I don't know. XD I kinda picture him just... doing it one day, because he doesn't really plan for things. Maybe come the winter. >_>

SIRIUS: MOAR THREADS. Also, you say "reckless impulsiveness" and Harry perks up. I have the feeling he'll like Sirius more -- like that's possible -- and they should get into trouble at some point, when that's at a high point. I wish I could think of a hobby for him, but I really don't know. :-/

PEPPER: I've said it before, and then I think the ball was dropped, but I think Ianto and Pepper should be buds. He'd sympathize with the Tony thing, because of Jack, and really they should be ruling the island together anyway.

CAL: LOL, shifts at the Hub are always available. By which I mean Ianto is way too eager to let Ishiah and Cal do his work as he sits around, smirking behind his pint at them. Also, Sam and Mitchell need to get close to him (baby baby).

Despite two tours of the island and like half a dozen characters, I don't think I have *ever* had a thread with you. If I have, I don't remember. My goal for this period is to fix that. SO.

Kate's settling down a bit after mid-November, as much as Kate ever settles down, and one of her projects is that she's been hand-sewing a little black dress. It's headcanon for her that she turns trash to treasures. I'm thinking maybe she and Lux?

But you know your pups better than I do. I want one. You tell me which. And she'd definitely be interested in doing anything with the second island, so maybe Peter, if none of the current ones.

William and Clark and Cora hahhaha are going to have reporting rivals in the form of Lois because she's Lois and its news. I can't wait actually, Lois will really get her reporting skills out and Cora is like glad of competition from THREE PEOPLE. And not jus silly WDW.

And Lois is definitely supportive of Clark Kent, Council Member. He would be great at it. There aren't more natural Leaders than Clark after all.

Also, Clark should know Lois is getting an EP with Del's twins. He should definitely tag into that. Not that she's broody of anything but I kind of want a little more home!Lois to go with reporting!Lois.
